    My City Kitchen Board of Directors would like to thank the Meriden Foundation for their generous support; MCK was awarded a grant to expand our program to reach teenage mothers;
    “Healthy Mom=Healthy Baby”.

    We are very grateful and humble for their support. A sincere THANK YOU to the Foundation and Committee members for this amazing opportunity to provide teen parents with nutrition education. Special thanks to our student, and teen parent Tiera Burch for voicing her concerns, which led us to take action in this area.

    We’ll be launching this 12 weeks healthy cooking program in mid January, teaching teen mothers and fathers how to provide healthy meals for themselves and their babies.

    The old saying “people come in and out of your life for a purpose and time” is in the front of my mind as I type this note.

    I’m not 1 to take compliments, so when someone I HIGHLY RESPECT says things about you it’s very humbling, and I know that it truly comes from the heart.

    I’ve maintained friendships from my childhood that money CANNOT buy.  I’ve made new friends since living in this country, ones that I’m blessed to have in my life. Including Chef Ramin Ganeshram, words CANNOT express my admiration for you; a warm hearted person, giver, friend, mentor and most important my sister. Thank you for your kind words, I humbled and honored to be chosen for the task at hand. I pray God continue to lead and guide us in the mission he has set before us. Thank you Chef Kashia

    For the past few days our Founder  and Chef, Kashia Cave has been a busy little bee working overseas in her native land. She’s very excited to announce the launch of an amazing international study abroad culinary program between, the Trinidad & Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI) and the Italian Food Style Education (IFSE) of Poibese, Turin- Italy.

    Ask A Connecticut Expert: Christmas Cookie Recipes

    Although her motto and philosophy of cooking is “Be Healthy, Eat Great Food,” Chef Kashia Cave knows that during the holidays, everyone expects and needs cookies, and she knows all about Christmas cookies. Chef Cave grew up in Trinidad, where she learned her skills in her grandmother’s kitchen.

    After completing her formal training as a chef in Europe, she came to Connecticut and founded My City Kitchen, a nonprofit organization in Meriden that teaches cooking and nutrition skills to children. Chef Cave is involved in and supports many charitable organizations, especially those that help inner city children learn to eat healthy. She is a regular guest on local television, and is also a recipe developer who has tested recipes for major cookbooks including Ramin Ganeshram’s “FutureChefs” (Rodale, Oct 2014). She developed these holiday cookie recipes for us.(In October, 2015 Chef Cave will lead a food tour to Italy, where she studied the culinary arts.
